A guarantee of origin is an electronic document that has the exclusive function to demonstrate to the end customer that a certain amount of electricity is produced from renewable energy sources. The Guarantees of origin system uses the certificates that guarantee the attributes of the produced 1 MWh of electricity and they are providing reliable information to customers about the origin of energy they consume. Guarantees of origin offer customers the opportunity to express requirement for a “green“ energy.
Based on the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources adopted in April 2021, EMS AD Belgrade as the Transmission system operator has been assigned the role of the Issuing body for Guarantees of origin in Serbia and the role of the Registry Operator for GO.
